This Lochgelly style tawse is extraordinarily stingy and has a high possibility of marking.
The original was made of one thick piece of leather and used in the Scottish school system between the late 1800s and 1987 when it was banned.
My version is a similar thickness except I use two pieces of leather that are sewn together. The handle is flexible as it was worn over the shoulder of the school master for quick, decisive strikes.
This particular batch are “seconds” as they have some skipped stitches or a wavy line. Purely superficial and at a discounted rate.
